Our Story
In 2009 Todd started building custom skis in a small Salt Lake City garage fueled by his passion for skiing which was cultivated in his early years of ski racing. He began with skis for himself, combining his deep knowledge of skiing mechanics with his lifetime experience in the ski industry. When his friends saw the skis, Todd had his first customers. A year later, he moved to a warehouse and enlisted help from highly qualified friends, including engineers, material scientists, custom furniture builders, machinists, and ski industry veterans. This team helped develop equipment and processes to meet the growing demand for high-quality skis. A few years later, Todd expanded into the current store on Louise Avenue and added another passion to the business, ski tuning. This is where 7EVEN was born.
Although ski building is still a passion, Ski Service is where 7even excels and is needed most in our local community. For 2024/25 we have invested heavily into state of the art equipment so that we can better serve our loyal customers.
7EVEN Skis is named after Todd's beloved Border Collie 'Seven', who loved skiing with Todd and passed away just before the shop opened. The shop is now home to Sonic, named "Best Store Greeter in Utah" in 2017. Over the years, Sonic has supervised the construction of hundreds of custom skis and the tuning of thousands of skis and snowboards - including the local ski teams. Todd - Owner

It takes a lifetime to build a mastery of ski building and tuning. Todd started working in a ski shop at the age of 13 in 1984, and ski raced until his mid 20’s. This led to his identity as a self-proclaimed ‘ski geek’. After a hiatus from the ski world, Todd decided it was time to get back in the ski business and start loving his work again.
With a group of friends who happened to be engineers, material experts, builders, machinists, and ski industry veterans, Todd was able to develop his initial ski-building process.

He is always testing and fine-tuning his craft skis and is excited to launch his new line of skis!

Despite the store not being named after Sonic, Sonic is making Seven proud by being the best ski buddy, 7EVEN mascot, and greeting customers as soon as they enter 7EVEN skis!
Jake - Ski Tech

Jake’s love of snowboarding brought him to the West from New Jersey in 2020. Jake’s first season with 7EVEN was in 2021, and he’s returned because of his love for the industry and the great environment at 7EVEN. In the summer, you can find him in Alaska commercial fishing and working as a fly fishing guide.
In 2023 Jake started Salty Ski Service offering mobile ski service. Although Jake is now his own boss, we still work in partnership with him at Salty Ski Service. Jake is here in the shop regularly working on Salty Ski tunes as well as helping us with our workload at 7even.

Donovan 'DJ' - Ski Tech

Donovan has been with 7even since 2023, and has his roots set in the competitive freeride scene. DJ has been honing his skills and learning more about delamination repairs for the upcoming season. If you have questions about your freeride gear, his insight is valuable. We look forward to many more seasons with him at the shop.
